16 oz can into chalice. Dated 11/2/18.

Look very nice cloudy golden. Smell is sweet tropical fruit. Taste follows nose. Sweet fruit with little bitterness at end. Feel is light-medium creamy. Overall a very nice NE style IPA. Would drink again but may not seek out.

Strange. And if Relic had a slogan, it could be just that- Relic Brewing...Strange. Doesn't mean bad. Just tastes like ALL of Relic's IPAs. Regardless of what "type" it may say it is. Overpowering floral smell. First sip leaves you surprised. 2nd sip you may think it is balanced with a hint of citrus. And by the 3rd sip you've had enough. 4th sip is way too long and you fight your way through and finish as quickly as you can. Think they may have been florists before they started brewing beer...?

Poured from a can, dated 11/15/17.

Look is a dense hazy yellow, with a fine white head.
Smells pretty nice, lots of good hops, tropical/pineapple and grapefruit, with some earthy pine. Some muddy yeast character too which I don't necessarily like.
Tastes great, again with the hops - pineapple, grapefruit, resin. I don't get much flavor from the malts, a bit of light caramel but mostly pale bready and crisp. Lingering flavors of grapefruit peel and resin.
Good feel, it's split between dank oily hops and bright flavors, with a stiff bitterness to cut through.

Overall a nice tasty DIPA. Lots of good offerings coming out of Relic.

Relic needs to do something new because their IPAs are becoming exaustingly derivative and are borderline weird. This isn’t a bad beer but it has some of the cloying characteristics that have come to bother me with Relic IPAs. It looks beautiful in the glass; pouring a hazy orange with a thick cream head and a whole lot of lacing. Whole lot of aroma for sure, but I’m not sure I really like it. It’s sweet, and floral and tropical and is just too much, and not in a good way. Flavors of caramel, melon and pineapple are nice, but somewhat disjointed and it could use a more nuanced approach. Nice mouth overall, but I can’t imagine drinking more than one of these in a sitting because, again. It’s a lot. Not a bad beer by any stretch and if this was my first IPA from Relic I’d probably be impressed, but I’m just kind of blah about it.
