Enjoyed this cask conditioned ale at Backstage in Torrington, CT as part of their "Cask Wars" brewers competition. A generally clear amber color with a slight cloudiness. The head is
sparse off-white with a fair ring as one expects from a decent cask ale and the
lacing shows reasonably well for a cask. The aroma emits a beautiful, big
bubblegum and floral hop nose. This includes some subtle vanilla maple thrown in
to this big personality of nose hit. The flavor brings out lots of flowery hops
with delicate sweet lemon and a touch of sweet Dr. Pepper and grapefruit edginess. This stuff
is medium bodied with a smooth, somewhat heavy feel and very adequate
carbonation for a cask. I loved it!
