Straw in color with a dissipating white that leaves plenty of lacing, The DUKE appears lighter than your typical barley wine. Even though dry hopped, the high alcohol renders the hop aroma, flavor, and bitterness low to medium low. Complex alcohols and fruity-ester characters are noticeable and balanced with the high alcohol content. Be careful with this one, the 12% alcohol will sneak up on you after just 12 ounces. The DUKE is the Truth.

Sat on this can for like a year. Then drank it after I returned from Texas/Mexico this summer.
Pours brown. Maltiboi but ya know, that be the style. Thin beige head rocks at 1/3". The aroma smells like community property. Bittering hops and caramel, heavy style. Don't tinder then come looking for commitment.
The taste keeps banging away as if its a mega C hopped American barleywine, and it is. There is a heavy dose of that toffee/caramel thing in a major unsweetened way. Where it gets surprising is that the mouth feel doesn't weigh down anywhere near as heavy as expected. 12% drinks relatively easily. Sip for sure. That's called the shocker. Its a weird grapefruit rind, caramel, bitter tree bark kind of ride. What starts off as a mega bitter adventure somehow gets smoother as it warms and the palate adjusts.
I'm going to see Steel Panther tonight at the GSR. And you're wearing shower shoes in the community shower and sharing walls in a mancamp like its your whole personality.

Rather odd color like grapefruit, orange and mango? Smells very fruity and something sweet I can’t put a finger on. The taste is fruity, kind of sweet and alcoholic. Mouthfeel is smooth and creamy then the alcohol comes and you know you got a “drink”. Overall an interesting brew that should be tried by us beernurds. On tap at What’s On Tap, NRH.

This is a pretty sophisticated beer and a very good one. Pour from draft at the brewery. Golden yellow color with nice head and lacing. Sweet fruit smell. Tastes of apricot, peaches, and almonds. A bit of booze which makes it pleasantly warming.

Color is really light for a barley wine - had to double check with the barkeep that it was the right one :)
Flavor is smooth and malty, but not particularly boozy. Good, for sure, but not great IMO
