"This brew is an homage to the seismic reinforcements at Ascendant Beer Company. Built on a base of Pilsner and 2-Row pale malts with some Wheat and Vienna malts added in for good measure, the rest is all about the hops. We lean on Simcoe for the kettle and whirlpool additions, then add Vic's Secret to the whirlpool. Citra, more Simcoe and Nelson Sauvin join forces in the fermentor [sic] for some considerable dry hopping."

Stovepipe picked up at John's Market (Eastside location) in Portland, OR
Poured into a Solera Brewing nonic pint
p- clear orange w/ lots of active carb; 1f white head; recedes to a nice cap; looks good
n- med nose of caramel, resin, pine, and maybe some candied orange; pleasant
t- follows nose to an extent (at least at first); I pick up some apricot as well; caramel malt carries pine, and resin; med-bold bitterness lingers; not much sweetness to it; med alcohol heat; noticed a stale cardboard element as I drank through; started out ok, but became a muddled mess and a chore to drink
mf- med bodied w/ med carb; sticky/coating
o- while it has some decent qualities, I didn't enjoy this, unfortunately; possibly past its prime, but with no can dating, it's tough to tell; definitely a disappointment, especially after really enjoying their Awesome Sauce IPA

draught
Very rich and creamy looking, rippling white head. Deep, medium golden orange look, with a little haze. Rich, malted tangelo peel and orange juice aroma, with a touch of sweetness. Very solid tangelo/tangerine peel bite that lasts through the finish, for the initial flavor, with an off-dry, medium spiced caramelized malt note and the malt providing a full mouthfeel. There is also a bit of a floral flavor, in the background. A truly worthy sipper.

This is the classic awful DIPA with the candy sugar fighting like cats in a bag with the over-bittered hop murk. But on the bright side, it's a lovely shade of amber with circles of foam in the english-style nonic. Spritzy and lively! Aroma is fruity yet funky, the under-the sink smell mixed with the last of the oranges forgotten in the pantry with the old onions.
I was hoping for a high-octane tipple for the late-nite sipping. Back in the fridge for medical use only. Like last night after the racoons tried to get in the screen door at 3:30 a.m. and scaring me pants off. Then I'd have gulped it happily. ABV is boldly marked as 8.70 percent on the label.
