In the 1500s, a Bavarian law prohibited brewing beer from late April through late September, about the length of a black bear’s hibernation. Thankfully, we do not live in 16th century Bavaria, so we brew this beer whenever we please. Our OktoBEARfest Märzen-style lager is a beautiful caramel color, is rich in malt, with a hint of sweetness, and balanced with clean hop bitterness. So celebrate Oktoberfest with an OktoBEARfest from Old Black Bear brewing company in Madison, Alabama, not Munich, Bavaria.

Bland and overly bitter. Not a good example of the style at all. Needed that biscuity malt, that slightly sweet bread crust quality to balance out the hops. Wasn’t getting any of that.
