the appearance was a dark amber color with an ample amount of foamy white head, softly glistened and fell at a good pace. Concave lace. The aroma had some tobacco, vanilla, toast, caramel/toffee malts, earthy hop bitterness, long sweet citrus extract, butterscotch, bubblegum (yes, weird, but okay, I don’t know, don’t ask, that’s what I got), just a bit of smoke and ended with a little bit of grassy hops. The flavor had a long sweet malty stretch of the earthiness biting down on the citrus and tobacco dryness. Aftertaste was malty with the tobacco. Finish was lenient with a lot of the flavors as it seemed more just the tobacco and caramel. The palate was about medium bodied with a sturdy sipping quality about it. Carbonation was there, but somewhat low. ABV felt fine as projected. Overall, I say pretty damn good English styled barleywine. I’d do this bad boy again.
