The Whale is an unmistakable brown ale; smooth, surprisingly drinkable and packed with flavor. We layer distinctive english malts with a touch of hops to create flavors and aromas of coffee, chocolate and toasted grains. This special version is brewed with a custom blend of pumpkin pie spice for hints of cinnamon, ginger, allspice, and nutmeg. Enjoy!

Can purchased at Fattey Beer Company in Rochester, NY.
This one pours a dark-ish brown color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.
This smells like caramel, cinnamon, coffee, pumpkin spices, and vanilla.
The Whale base is hearty enough to stand up to the pumpkin spicing – so many pumpkin beers end up just too spicy with a thin backbone that just dries it all out. That’s not the case here, with the caramel/chocolate/coffee base of the great brown ale still being the star here. The pumpkin spicing is done well – it’s there, but it doesn’t overwhelm, and it doesn’t dry out the mouth.
This is medium bodied, pretty creamy, and rich, with a nice drinkability.
These beers can go wrong so easily, but this was very well done.
