A Belgian wheat beer of some distinction, Rutherford pours a hazy gold with a fine white head. Trappist yeast, a bunch of wheat and Slovenian hops create a bright, refreshing beer perfect for a warm day.

You don't see this style much locally - so it's nice to see a fairly well done version. There's a lot of wheat in the taste, and it contributes to a fairly smooth mouthfeel on the back end of the beer. There's a soft fruity and spicy yeast character, and a bit of hoppy bitterness. I can dig this.

Yeasty, above average mouthfeel. A little astringent. Lace lines and a good head. A decent summer beer. Some coriander. I was fine with this, but I would want something edgy and tasty. Still in the style. SOme orange hop flavour? On tap at the nano-brewery.

Filled a Pint Glass with Hazy Golden Amber (SRM 4-6) and a creamy off white 1” head that quickly faded to a thin layer, leaving sticky patches of lace above. While intended to have a haze, I expect a BPA to be clear. The look of this “beer” is actually reminiscent of its namesake’s “beard,” which is oddly humorous.
Sweet aroma with funkiness and spice. Wheat does come through with notes of celery. The background may have a touch of orange, but only slightly.
Opens with some sweetness and spice. Coriander and peppery celery are set against sourdough bread, with a lengthy mild finish. Some orange wanders in and out throughout the session.
Medium to full body, with a soft texture and carbonation, and light astringency. Little to no presence of alcohol.
This was enjoyed at Donnelly’s Public House, Fairport, NY, with a grilled cheese sandwich. The day, like the beer started our wet and dreary, and ended bright and cheery. I would say Rutherford B Haze more closely resembles a Saison than a BPA, but regardless, this is a refreshing beer that makes one smile, and what better accolade is there for a beer?
It also set me off to research our 19th President.
