Lübeck 16/4 2019. 33 cl bottle with a swing cap like other beers from Flensburger Brewery. Figure from Werner Comics “fumping” a bottle on the label. Looks quite irritating (but my daughter thought the beer looked “cute” - not a guarantee for anything).
Pours clear pale yellow with a big white head. Settles as frothy layer of foam clinging to the sides of the glass. Substantial Lacing.
Aroma is sweet malts in abundance. Sweet, Bready, grainy malts. Light grassy notes with an acerbic touch.
Light carbonation. Thin, watery texture with a Soft, foamy touch.
Flavor is medium sweet followed by a stronger sour bitterness. Aftertaste bitter with a rough touch. Lingers for a bit.
Not the most sophisticated of beers bi’ut not without it’s own rough charm.

Shared 330 ml green swingtop bottle, probably from CITTI-Markt Flensburg. BB date August 2013. Pale golden colour, moderate white head. Strong grassy and sweetish aroma. The flavour is fairly dry, with a distinct and sharpish hoppy bitterness in the finish and aftertaste.

From the green flip top bottle, it pours a clear light golden color with a modest head that slowly dissipates and leaves a bit of lacing. Is that Phosgene in the nose? No, it is the scent of Bölkstoff, which is somewhat grassy and new mown hay-like. Taste is a bit harsh, but drinkable. Somewhat bitter aftertaste. Drinkable.

First came a bit of a skunky smell, similar to Heineken. The pour was golden yellow with a high frothy head that dissipated after the first two drinks, but left aesthetic lacing. Tasted metallic... Not good. The bottle is cool and will go to a brewer friend of mine. Do not buy this beer if you drink for taste.

A: This one is strawcolored with a tall, but uneven and rather light white head. Nice lacings though.
S: Malt, bready and somewhat sweet. Bitter hops, brings nettles and hay.
T: No surprises after the smell, but rather mild.
M: Long lovely bitter aftertaste. Body is very light and carbonation quite strong.
O: Not bad, but way too thin.

This brew comes in a bottle displaying a very famous German cartoon character named, Werner. It looked a little hokey, but I figured I'd go ahead and give this beer a try.
The aromas are of a typical German Pilsner, very lemony and a bit of a fresh mown lawn smell.
This does produce mounds of bright white head, eventually clumping together and forming decent lacing to the end. The body is ultra clear and light gold in color.
The taste is a blast. There is a good lemon drop taste to this, but with a smack of bitterness. This beer was much better than I imagined.

Werner is a comic figure from early 90ies. He was a guy who didn't do more then being a mechanic, drinking a lot of beer and driving his big Harley( there is a real "wernerbike"; made with 4 knucklehead engines on one bike). Werner had his own brew too; what they called "Bolkstoff".
Saw it the other day and recalling it always was good I off course had to buy a bottle of this cult beer. Found out it was still in a very good shape. Best before 25-05-05.
Pours out mighty fine with thick and lasting white head and beautifully light golden color. Even drinking this out of a 0,5l mug it was pale!
Nose is very delicate and fresh. Lots of malts but also a very citrussy hopsmell I only recal from american hops so far.
Taste is great too. Dry, malty and then going again in this citrussy and bitter hoptaste. Drinkability is that I would go drunk to bed if there were many more in my cellar.
