This marzen pours a unique pale, perfectly clear, reddish orange color with a fairly thin foamy white head. The smell is sweet and fruity, mainly of apple. The taste is not nearly as fruity as the smell would have you believe. There is also a much bigger malt presence than the color or smell would indicate. There is a slight sweet fruit hint, but it is mostly overridden by the bready malt flavors as well as yeast influence. As the beer warms the flavor profile decays to taste somewhat flavorless though. There is a detectable hop presence in the finish, which is also somewhat dry. This is not nearly as interesting a beer as I thought it would be. I halfway thought it would be a travesty also, like many overly fruity beers are, but it also isn’t that. All I can say about it is it isn’t too terrible, but it isn’t very inspired either. It’s pretty sub-par by German standards.

A very clear amber colored beer with a small head.
The smell is slightly malty with a bland overall smell. Maybe some hay and light caramel whiffs.
The taste is light and the beer drinks very easily. The mouthfeel is light and the beer gives the impression of a colored pilsner. The beer is a little hoppy, but quite clean.

A: Pours deep amber with a massive whipped-cream-like tan head that slowly dissipates into nice lacings.
S: Bready malt, somewhat sweet. Rather mild smell.
T: Rich bready malt, semi-sweet. Nothing else going on here.
M: Medium to full body, low carbonation and short aftertaste.
O: This was way to mild for my taste.
