Dry imperial stout brewed with chilis and cacao.
Just a hint of chili pepper spice complements an opulent, chocolate foundation with layers of deep, dry roasty, toasty goodness.

Starless night black body; thin yet densely creamy light tan head. Fine aroma of roasted grain and semi-sweet chocolate. Fairly robust roasted grain and mild chocolate flavor; chili presence starts slowly then dominates the taste at the finish. Heavy body yet somewhat thin and watery for the style; slick with residual sugars; warm and very satisfying chili heat.
This will be a beer to revisit. The smell is pretty tame and the mouthfeel a bit weak, and the cacao (chocolate) taste also seems muted. But there is no mistaking the chili heat on this one. It is intense and satisfying. River North generally does a bang up job with its dark beers, and this one is good, but this time things seem a bit off. Or maybe its my palate and nose...we'll see...
