This is the third straight anniversary beer from them that I have rated. I rated 10 Year at 4.6 and 11 year at 4.84. I got to add this one to the database, and I am honored to do so.
The best thing about it is that while it is powerful in terms of flavor, barrel presence, and booziness, it is also extremely well balanced.
There’s nothing sludgy, oily, or syrupy about how it feels, which is impressive with the amount of barrel aging done to it and the high ABV.
It’s a gift to make a high octane beer that isn’t obnoxious, arrogant, or overbearing in at least one respect, and these guys have done it for at least three years in a row.
Somehow this is the first review of the three where my initial thought about it isn’t how boozy it is, even though they’re all around 22 percent. I think I’d have to say it’s the best of their three anniversary beers I’ve tried, just because the words “understated” and “subtle” can, for some strange reason, seem appropriate to describe this beast.
Excellent beer, one of the best I’ve had in months.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
