Haven’t had a lot of River North – high prices for an outfit I’m not familiar with. Sucked in by the double barrel, this one boasts black wax over a 375ML bottle dated 2024. Note: 30 cases made.
Deathly Hallows Black with only a stringy ring of little bubbles. Nose is tame for a big boy: cocoa, spiced rye, restrained booze.
Shadowman – Double Barrel Aged (2024) warms but doesn’t burn. The alcohol is present, don’t get me wrong-o, but the fuse is long. Deep booziness complemented (or overlaps?) with the bourbon & a nice, firm bite of rye. Charting high on deep, rich sweetness. Slight bitter cocoa on the finish. Brawny. This is one & done (in a lifetime) for me.
Solid. Great barrel. But the base cowers before them & just can’t support them. Good beer that I’ll regret at 7:40 AM.
