A special blend of double, triple, and quadruple barrel-aged imperial stouts, aged in some of the finest Colorado whiskey barrels, including Colorado bourbon, rye whiskey, ex-honey & ex-maple syrup whiskey, Colorado straight whiskey, and Colorado single malt whiskey barrels. Yeah, we’re talking layers of rich, complex flavor that you won’t find anywhere else. With an incredible 22.7% ABV, this beast is not for the faint of heart. It’s a rare and highly sought-after beer, and trust us—this one sells out fast every single year.

Yet another excellent anniversary beer from River North. Thick, bold, flavorful, and boozy. Not sludgy or cloying. Just right in terms of presentation and taste. Excellent overall. I love these beers.

Jet black pour, opaque; thin light tan head, winds up mostly a thin ring around the inside of the glass. Rich and alluring smell; dark chocolate with grain char and a slight sense of booziness; heavy caramel. The taste explodes and encompasses the palate with richly sweet dark chocolate and refined boozy flavors; subliminal spiciness lurks in the recesses. Heavy, oily mouthfeel; sticky and lip smacking; beautiful alcohol warmth.

What a divine beer! The looks and smell are good, but the taste and mouthfeel are exquisite. The depth and complexity of the taste combined with the perfect mouthfeel sensation (for the style) are world-class. The extremely high ABV is notable for not coming across too brash or hot. I'd never call it well-hidden, just well-balanced. One could always hope that this recipe would become a standard offering, yet as an anniversary beer, this one is hard to beat.

ABV: 22.7%; pouring temperature: 52.8 ℉; bottling info: 13th anniversary

Look - Pours a dark brown-black color with very little head that instantly disappears. I guess that's not uncommon for a beer of this strength (22.7%ABV). Leaves a thick lacing around the glass when swirled, which is pretty cool.

Smell - Dark fruit, whiskey, bourbon, maple syrup, and notes of chocolate.

Taste - Maple syrup, chocolate, dark fruit, bourbon, and whiskey.

Feel - A fabulous creamy texture. That's one of my favorite things about this beer.

Overall - A really fantastic stout. I can't believe I'm the only person to review it so far.
