you dont see a lot of wheatwines, especially black ones. this could be the first of those that i have ever seen really, and i super dig it. good on these guys for taking a risk like this, but they have never been shy. its crazy that its as strong as it is, for me it drinks a whole lot lighter than this, but i love the malt profile, its next level. wheaty, but obviously some midnight wheat in here, which you dont always see. too often its pale white wheat with darker barley for color, but this is wheat all the way, and the texture proves it. if there was such a thing as an english dark wheatwine (which there isnt to my knowledge), this would be it. its only a little hoppy, and more yeasty, but this one is about the grain. wicked with the dark wheat, texturally interesting and thick, but also real smooth and layered. for once i think the booze could show through a little more, its a lot easier than many, and i almost miss it. too easy drinking for what it is, give me some heat! one of the better great storm beers i have had, and one of those random beers from a random brewer that means a lot, its pioneering and interesting, and warrants some attention here...
