Deep, rich, fruity sweet stout. Excellent appearance, feel, and flavors.

this is one heck of an interesting brew from great storm, one of the sweeter stouts out there. it pours a chocolate color, shiny and deep brown, with very little visible carbonation. lots of sugar on the nose, both lactose and fruity, chocolate notes, lots of booze, bourbon, and yes, in fact, raisins. the flavor is not so layered as the nose, it comes on in one big sort of wave, sugary and boozy are what I take away, but there is some nice roast to the malts, a slight bitter cocoa element, and a wooded smoothness to the feel, which is otherwise a little heavy with the massive body, alcohol, and relatively minimal carbonation. a fun beer, but a good glass to share with a mate. I much preferred their seven wolves ipa, as well as a few others, but this one is a boundary pusher, and I salute them for it. weird there is no rum on it, a bit of a misnomer here, but you dont miss it.
edit: they have this on nitro now, and it really suits the beer, gives it even longer legs. still a sweetness pie, but the creamy feel helps it i think...

On tap at the brewery. Poured a dark brown with a small creamy head. Aroma of malt goodness, rum, chocolate, and raisins. Taste was fairly nice: sweeter malt, rum, a bit of coffee, and a lingering raisin aftertaste. Mouthfeel was the letdown; it was pretty thin, more like a nice brown ale. Very little hop bite which was fine. Quite quaffable but don't think I'd make a special trip to try this again. If I'm in the Springs again, perhaps, but...
