8oz draft pour at Gerst Haus Evansville served in a half pint glass ice cold. The beer is dense black with mocha brown head. The head forms a thin ring and leaves a little lacing. The aroma is muted bourbon and oak (this keg is at least 2 years old). The taste is semisweet caramel and dark chocolate with a hearty whiskey and ethanol flavor. Fairly big bitterness even with the malt sweetness. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with just less than medium carbonation and a mostly dry finish. Overall, good, but boozey.

Dark, black beer that would get a better rating if it weren't for the head. This is from a 16 oz can and the head didn't even complete a ring around the glass and what did form dissipated quickly.
The smell is bourbon first then oak/wood notes. Some sweetness like maybe caramel and vanilla as well.
The first drink is wow. This is so balanced. Bourbon plays well with the oak, vanilla, and caramel notes. This is good.
The feel is very warming with no whiskey burn at all. Once again, great balance.
Overall, this is a really really good BBA Stout. Very impressed by the balance.

I've had issues with some of Tin Man's sour lineup in the past; Csar has not been one of those problems, but I've generally steered clear of them, given how many excellent beers are on the market these days. As such, when I saw a BBA release of Csar, I thought I'd give it a shot, and I'm very glad to have done so, as this puts them back on my radar. I've been binging on Revolution's Deth's Tar cans for the last month, and this is a touch different but holds its own.
It pours thick and syrupy for 12%, with a nice finger of head that dissipates quickly but leaves a ring of foam around the edge of the glass. Cacao nibs, rum, vanilla, woody oak, and some vinous tannins on the nose that definitely hold my attention. The palate is much the same, but a bit more aggressive than the nose, and with a sweeter finish than expected. Full-bodied and silky smooth.

Holy coconut Batman! Tons of toasted coconut, vanilla, milk chocolate and bitter dark chocolate. Tons of flavor. Slight bitter, lingering finish. Starts a bit sweet, but mellows out with oak. Lower carb, smooth. So good!

Appearance: Pours coffee brown with a relatively thin beige cap; while the head fades away, leggy lacing drips down
Smell: Chocolate cake and vanilla buttressed by Bourbon and oak
Taste: Chocolate cake drizzled with Bourbon, with the heat building, through the middle; sweeter tones of vanilla, caramel and chocolate re-emerge in the finish
Mouthfeel: Full bodied with moderate carbonation
Overall: Canned about six months ago, this beer is still hot and needs some time to settle down; a bit sweeter than I like for the style
Thanks, TravisMason, for the opportunity

Looks like Reg Csar, black as night, oil slick and the familiar glug sound. Smells like reg Csar. Taste is WOW! Vanilla is very present at start, mid is mildly bitter and end is heavy bourbon. Mouthfeel is thick thick. Wood is quietly sneaking its way into the mouthfeel. Overall marginally better than Reg Csar, vanilla nose after the first swallow blows you away.

Black pour with a thin ring of brownish head. Aroma- really pops out of the glass. Bourbon, cherries, chocolate, bit of rubbing alcohol. Taste- some heat from the alcohol, dark chocolate, fudge, brownie. The lingering taste is the chocolate fudge taste. Has a pretty well balanced taste despite what I have described so far. Mouthfeel, very coating. Not super thick but fairly thick. Overall- this was very good. Surprisingly so. They hit it out of the park with this one. Props Tin Man!

Served in a 10oz snifter, draft
A - pitch black with a thin khaki ring of bubbles along the glass 3
S - vanilla, faint coffee 3
T - sweet Cakey up front, a very vanilla aftertaste. Not very boozey 3
M - sticky and light, more carbonation feel than most BA beer.
O - A solid beer, but nothing stands out. Very Cakey and Vanilla flavors up front. Most impressive thing about it was that they booziness was very discrete, well-managed. Flavors are alright, but not outstanding.
