Moderate raisin notes, fairly sweet caramel aroma.

Flavor is somewhat lacking in complexity. Raisin, prune, dates upfront, but it dries out fairly quickly to an alcohol finish. Spicy notes of cinnamon and clove emerge in the aftertaste.

Brewed in indiana but with their heart in the Belgian abbey, the Tin Man brewers embark on the biggest, baddest and boldest style of which those abbeys are well famed.

Axis pours with a deep bronze center and hazy, burnt orange margins. As a creamy and fluid froth builds, its longevity is terse. But first the scent billows with the classic candied dark fruit, spicy counterparts and a hint of rum. Its caramelized taste is soft with angel-food cake, light honey and hard candy.

As the sweetness calms over the course of the middle palate, the whimsical balance of fruit and spice begins to play out- apple, cherry, grape, fig, sultan and date start the show with those glimpses of dark stone fruit and orchard variety. Its rebuttal of cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, vanilla and white pepper offsets the fruit and carries a vinous red wine character deep into finish.

Medium-full in body, the beer's creaminess is smooth, warm and soothing, however more authentic versions will be much drier, more expressively carbonated and spicier. Trending slightly sweet and weighted Axis prefers the savory and decadent side of balance with a aftertaste of caramel apples and spiced rum.
