Seriously, crisp, assertive bitterness balances a simple mildly sweet malt accentuated by those gorgeous Nelson Sauvin and Rakau hops. God it’s medium light, off dry, so it’s so so mouth watering with the bitterness complementing the malt. Some pine on the finish, fruity, maybe peach and citrus, but who knows. And some toasted bread crust as it warms.
The aroma is fruity, hoppy, light lime, faint piney resin, light caramel malt. The initial pour is a crystal clear gold edging towards copper. The second pour shook up the yeast and added turbidity. Really awesome seeing the kiwis (and aussies for that matter) focus on balanced beer and not obsessed solely with the race to recreate cloudy fruity flabby bastards that drink like OJ.
