On-draught @ Pomeroy's Inn, Christchurch, New Zealand.
"California IPA [sic]." 6.6% ABV.
Yogurty hops (Simcoe well utilized). Their website indicates I should be tasting "grapefruit sativa" (presumably from the cascade and centennial) but I do not, nor do I get the citrus or pine I'd expect from those C-hops, though I do get floral and faint herbaceous character which I'd attribute more to Columbus. Can't say I taste anything particularly "dank" or cannabis/sativa emphatic, which I guess is what they were after.
Drinkable but not pungent enough hopwise for an IPA...has the hop intensity of a pale ale.
Garage Project appears to be the best rated brewery in all of New Zealand (and possibly the continent of Australia). This is my first beer from them, and as an introduction it isn't boding well...I'm hopeful their other brews exceed this in quality.
Doesn't showcase Cascade or Centennial well at all. Does a lovely thing with Simcoe, and brings some nice character out of Columbus.
