For our fourth hop harvest collaboration with East Coast brewing legends Trillium we’re exploring all new terroir, with Nelson Lakes Hops in the Mātakitaki Valley from Freestyle Hops. A hop free boil and massive dry hop addition of hand selected Nelson Sauvin and Motueka create a giant juicy hazy homage to one of New Zealand’s most exciting new hop growing regions.

A: Pours a milky murky bright medium golden orange in color with moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and moderate mango yellow + bright orange + pale orange + medium golden yellow + burnt orange + bright yellow colored highlights. The beer has a two finger tall sudsy foamy white head that quickly reduces to a large patch of mottled very thin film covering approximately 75% of the surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light to moderate amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Moderate to strong aromas of tropical/passionfruit + tropical/mango + stone fruit/lychee + gooseberry + white grape hops over the top of light to moderate aromas of biscuit + pale + wheat malts with a light to moderate amount of sugary sweetness.
T: Upfront there are just shy of moderate flavors of biscuit + pale + wheat malts with a light to moderate amount of sugary sweetness. That is followed by moderate to strong flavors of tropical/passionfruit + tropical/mango + stone fruit/lychee + gooseberry + white grape hops which impart a light amount of bitterness which fades away fairly quickly leaving light to moderate lingering gooseberry + tropical hop flavors.
M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Moderate amounts of dryness in the finish.
O: Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol and a pleasantly dry mouthfeel. Enjoyable with lots of gooseberry, vinous, tropical, and stone fruit hop flavors and aromas. Very interesting and definitely a most unique hop profile.
