stopped in on a Summer evening for a few beers and snacks in their outdoor beer garden before going to dinner somewhere else. Outdoor bar were you order beers and food. About a dozen beers on tap, mostly classic styles. The couple beers I drank were solid. We only had a couple appetizers, so can't totally comment on the full food menu.

Stopped here with my wife to try the beers and have dinner. The place is located in an old mansion-like historical structure on the edge of downtown. Curb parking is all that I saw. The pub entrance is off the side street. A small patio for drinking and dining is located at this entrance. The tap room is fairly small with a long bar that seats 10-12 customers. Tall tables and stools are also available, and another seating area with booths is around the corner. Two TVs were noted. It's cozy, and I liked the vibe. At the rear of the building is an alley, and across the alley is a brick building that houses the brewing operation. It also serves as a second bar and has a much larger beer garden and boccie lawn. Food is available some days, but can also be ordered and brought from the tap room to this garden.

There are 12 taps that included 8 beers, two ciders and a seltzer (one tap was unused this day). We ordered a sampler flight of 4 beers to try to evaluate as many of them as possible in one visit. They were all brewed very well to their respective styles, but none of them was notable enough to mention here, although I will say that the Upside Brown Coffee Ale uses a very rich-tasting coffee. Overall, we gave a B-minus score to them.

There was a wait list for outdoor seating so we sat in the pub. Service was very good, and so was the food. Growlers and crowlers are available to go. Limited cocktails and wine are also available. This is a place well worth a visit if you're in the area.

Vibe is alright, pretty typical brewpub. Beer styles were more old-school traditional which is fine if you nail them but the 4 beers I tried ranged from slightly below average to bad. There is plenty of place to hide poor brewing in many modern styles but if you're brewing a black lager you can't screw anything up. The water in Springfield tastes awful, maybe they aren't treating it properly. Food was fine, below average but not bad. Service was attentive and relatively friendly. If this is truly the best brewery in Springfield I feel sorry for the city.

Next to historic Springfield, IL. in a converted 19th Century mansion. Bar area next to restaurant we ate at the bar. The "Horseshoe"sandwich a favorite of the city. Yum. Our Beers were very good, the Brown ale was great. Staff was nice. Cozy feel at home place.

Travel to Springfield for business. Excellent food and service. As for the beers, always outstanding. Especially the high gravs.

Very cool place; unique food offerings. But......while I used to really enjoy their beers, all they have now is session ales. Strongest beer was 5.4 abv; most are 5 % and under. So if you're not a serious craft beer drinker, you'll enjoy their beers.

Brewpub located in a historic house. Lots of small rooms give a sense of intimacy, quite different from most brewpub.
Quality is quite good. Nothing that knocks your socks off but some very good brews.
The service was attentive and knowledgeable.
There were about a dozen beers on tap.
The food was excellent. Very glad we stopped by.

Obed and Isaac's is the best brewery in Springfield. They have a decent selection of beers with new things popping up occasionally. They also have a great price on growlers (currently $6.50 for any beer on tap).

Their outdoor patio area is wonderful in the summer. There's an outdoor bar with food, two nice bocce courts and bean bag sets. There's a fire pit as well which is nice if it's a little chilly.

We took a short family trip to Springfield, to see the Lincoln and State attractions. While in town, we visited this excellent brewpub for lunch. It is in an historic old home, which has an immediate charm. There is a bar at one end of the home, and tables are located throughout the rooms. There were a variety of ales on tap, mostly British and American styles. A robust brown ale was particularly excellent. The menu is presented as an old newspaper, which is fun. The perogies as an appetizer were excellent, and the the leg of lamb sandwich was great. Local art adorned the walls, and they absolutely played on the historic nature of the town. Worth a visit, for sure.

Right in downtown Springfield in an old house, quite a bit bigger than it initially seems. The beer is a relatively limited selection with only about 8 things on tap if you don't include cider and mead. The quality is decent, a couple were quite nice, others just ok, nothing was innovative or really up to date. Service was reasonably good and the food was actually quite good for standard brewpub stuff. If you are downtown visiting the Lincoln attractions, this is a great place to stop for lunch and same beer.

Beers were above average, but nothing really special. Food and service were great though and it's a really cool building and vibe. The upside brown was the standout for me with the coffee flavor really coming through.

Stopped by O&I after spending a Sunday checking out Springfield's many historical treasures. It sits in a attractively restored and expanded old mansion downtown.

They weren't that busy; it was prior to the dinner rush. I sat at the bar, where I was prompted by the barkeep with the perfunctory, 'What da have?,' without a greeting. Given the favorable reviews of their IPA, I chose that and was told tersely, "We're out," even though it was listed on the board. I selected the Rye IPA, which when arrived, was a thoroughly refreshing experience; robust yet balanced and not overly bitter with a very nice finish. For my next, I'd spied a Saison on the board and was told "We don't have the Session on now," which tells me that this guy needs some elemental listening skill development.

In between my 2 pints, another customer came in with 2 growlers to fill. He got the same indifferent treatment that I did although spending much more than I - $37- and the real kicker was the customer was not thanked for his business and to top it off, thanked the barkeep instead - which went unacknowledged.

This type of treatment is a beef of mine and know that brewers struggle with customer service along with everything else they have to address. Based on my experience at O & I's, I'm less inclined to return on my next travels through Springfield and check out the competition instead. They can have the best beer in the world but if the person pouring it doesn't exhibit baseline customer service practices and act like they appreciate the business, it takes away from whatever goodwill that was built through the beer.

Stoped in for the first time on Valentine's Day thanks to my wife. I am use to some larger breweing company's in Michigan like founders so this was above comparison on a smaller scale. I really enjoyed the beer and loved the food and service. I would love to see a larger selection available at all times.

Some of the best food in Springfield despite the prices. The beers are very par for the course. Their flights of beer I would consider to be introductory craft beers meant for the newly acquainted and the upcoming enthusiast.

Built in an old family home, the establishment is very cozy inside, and also has a spacious beer garden outside.

While the beers are good to very good but not great, the pub far on the menu is excellent, and you will bet more than enough to fill you to the brim.

The service can be a little overzealous yet always friendly, and I suppose I'd rather than than the opposite.

Definitely an establishment worth paying a visiting when in Springfield.

Fine atmosphere, outstanding service, wide-ranging menu with some outstanding fare. A solid variety of beers, none of which are below average and a few of which are fantastic. Had a strawberry blond ale and a brown ale there recently that were both tremendous brews.
