Amber copper color with a thick three fingers off-white head with great retention and leaving lots of laces. As good as it gets for an IPA.
Light aroma of spices, earthy and floral hops, caramels and some orange. As in their APA, this could benefit from dry-hop.
Bitter flavor with notes of grapefruit, good spices, toasted malts, caramels, yeast, tea leaves, pineapple, wood, earthy and floral hops and orange peel. Dry aftertaste with a long lasting bitterness. As in their APA this one also made its 45 IBUs to yield considerably. It feels definitely higher, which is very welcome.
Medium towards full body with appropriate carbonation. Alcohol of 6.8% abv is completely absent.
Positive surprise, especially considering its price (US$3 for 600ml). Well balance IPA with a good malty base but still with a good hoppy bitter punch. I hope this wasn’t just a fortunate batch; I’ll go back and buy some more tomorrow. They did a good job with bittering hops, if this gets some nice dry-hop and aromatic citrus tropical hops in the last brewing stages; it has potential to be one of the best local IPA choices. This one as it is, it is clearly better than a Colorado Indica.
