Although distribution in based in Florianópolis, SC, the beers of Klaus Bier are actually produced in Foz do Iguaçu, PR. So I'm drinking the water from the famous Iguaçu Falls? You betcha. From a 600 ml bottle, on to the beer:
Comes out on the paler end of the spectrum. It's a very pale yellow, more like the hue of a witbier than a hefeweizen. It is cloudy though, its head somewhat fluffy, and retention is alright. The nose doesn't offer an abundance of goodness. There is some weak banana, shots of lemon....in fact it smells more like a lemon drink. Not that it's all that bad.
It does have a pleasant taste. The proportions lemon, banana bread, wheat, and cinnamon are reasonable, and the intensity of the flavor is fine as well. A bready wheat note lingers in the aftertaste. This is a light bodied beer that offers a light crispness of carbonation.
This is a respectable hefeweizen. A fair choice for one of the many hot days in the south of Brazil.
