Nice porter of a deep brown, almost black color and a browny foam that should have a nicer texture.
Smell and taste are quite malty, not too roasty; easy to feel the chocolate notes, some milky ones. Coffe notes are less evident. Also easy to feel the yeast, this beer reminds me quite well of Viven Porter.
Body is huge, carbonation is at good level, with some effervescence.
This one and Karavelle's weiss seems a bit buttery, I don't know why (probably the malts) but I think it's kind of nice!

This excellent beer got the Gold Medal in the III BBA - Brazilian Beer Award (2012), promoted by ABRADEG - Brazilian Beer Consumer Association.

This Dry Stout have a very good mouthfell, a smoked smell and a brigth appearence.

If it's avaiable for you, I really suggest to taste it.

Nice deep black color. Made three fingers of caramel colored head with a medium retention.
Nice aroma of dark chocolate and toasted malts.
Also good flavor, not overly sweet, again with clear chocolate notes. Did not get much coffee as stated.
I got a bit of coffee more on the finishing, which is less dry and bitter than usual.
Light to medium body with good carbonation with medium bubbles.
Body is a bit too light for the style (meaning stout, not Schwarzbier), it would be interesting to taste it with nitrogen and with more alcohol, once it is a bit oily and with nice dark chocolate notes. I found it more like a porter, a Schwarzbier doesn’t get this oily chocolate sensation. A porter for a session beer given its drinkability.

Here's my first run-in with this new Paulista brewery. Coming out of a 600 ml bottle that was shared by Sergio (srbcurti), thanks! On to the beer:

The color is black all the way. To sweeten the look is a good forming head that retains well and wallops a few strings of lace around the glass. Unfortunately, the smell raises a yellow flag. While there is a little roastiness, there is also a little tartness. Well, even without the tart note, the nose isn't really that great anyway.

Typical dry stout characteristics of roast and unsweetened chocolate provide a solid foundation for this beer. There's no perceived tartness, which is good to know. It's light bodied with carbonation that is just a little too springy and carbonated. Nevertheless, it is a somewheat drinkable stout.

This is a decent first look at Karavelle. My second look featured an infected bottle of one of their other beers, so it looks that Karavelle still has a few kinks to work out in their new brewery. We'll see what the two bottles I have in my house have to say when I open them in the future.
