L: Slightly muddy amber red, with a creamy tan head and several fingers of lacing.

S: Very piney hop, with notes of toffee, caramel and a little bit of stone fruit.

T: Strong piney hop note mixed with sweet caramel and toffee, a light notell of booze.

F: Full body, smooth creamy carbonation.

O: Very nice imperial red ale.

i think this is my favorite beer from these cats so far, its huge for one, perfect for the holiday season, and features a ton of hops, piney and as much an ipa as anything else. its got a tarnished penny copper color, flat luster, and a nice frothy khaki head thats easily excitable. the nose on it is bitter and sweet both, honey malt, red malt, caramel, toffee, and then the hops, bitter and pungent and fresh, with quite a bit of oil going on. the taste is a lot like the nose, with the hops being much more forward than the grain sweetness that was there more evenly in the smell. some candy sweetness in the finish that balances the hop bitterness really well. frothy mouthfeel, really full bodied, creamy almost, but carbonation is high and there is just a hint of alcohol to this. its really well made beer, evolved beyond some of the more juvenile stuff theyve put out, and frankly pretty darn good, on par with any other big red ipa out there. good balance, cool hop profile, and a big step forward for these guys.
