From a 500ml bottle.
Hazy, dark brown with a ruby edge. Despite a careful pour (to retain the sediment in the bottle) a half finger head persists to the end and leaves extensive lacing.
Chocolate malteser nose. Toasted notes.
Smooth, refreshing taste and mouthfeel. Chocolate and caramel. Solid bitter profile. Some dryness. Light carbonation. Very nicely balanced - not too rich, not too light.
This is third time lucky. The blonde and amber from this brewery were awful. But this is decent porter. The notes say "perfect for the colder, winter months" but, drunk chilled, this also makes for a highly enjoyable, smooth, summer quaffer.
