Canned 1/12/17; drank 1/24/17 @ the Yarchives.

Opaque yellow/orange appearance.

A violent pour yielded a huge, noisy off-white head; frothy lace.

Pineapple, lemon & orange peel notes in the nose; fruity & fragarant!

Soft, medium mouthfeel.

Orange citrus & mild lemon flavors up front; pineapple bite & soft apple notes on the finish.

A true citrus-gasm; about as good as IPA's get.

Look: Pours a super hazy almost yellow color with a finger of head. Smarter than Spock looks like a pineapple juice. Just insane.

Smell: Fruit stripe gum/juicy fruit hits me with a burst of juicy hop aromas. Pineapple is what sticks out, with some dank notes deep down. A beautiful aroma.

Taste: Hops dominate the taste, which is no surprise. Orange juice, and lots of it, as well as some sweeter mango like qualities. A grapefruit and pineapple finish sticks with as well. Really solid.

Feel: I think my biggest hang up with the beer is the bitterness throughout this. Besides the bitterness, Smarter Than Spock finishes quite dry. Carbonation is ample, and helps give the beer a fuller body.

Overall: Nice, but not as mind blowing as expected. The aroma of this sucker is awesome, but the bitterness really limits my appreciation for the beer.

Appear: looks like pineapple juice. Bright golden color with barely any head at all.

Nose: Aroma hits immediately upon opening. Huge notes of pineapple and mango. A twinge of sweet, biscuity malt on the backend.

Taste: Citrus fruits from the nose hit first, but way more grapefruit flavor than I picked up on the aroma. The finish has a bitter grapefruit astringency to it.

Mouth: Very creamy with low carbonation.

Over: This is a fantastic beer and the first I've had from Monkish. This beer is light and refreshing. I drank it late at night before bed but this is a beer that could easily be cracked in the morning and would go well with a hearty breakfast.

Poured from a 16 oz can (canned 01/12/2017) into a RAR teku

Appear: straight OJ look. really light creamy straw color. hardly 1/2 a fingers worth of head that dissipated quickly.

Nose: BIG citrus and tropical fruits as I cracked the can. Mango peaches pineapple. doughy biscuity yeast malt note. slight herbal green onion note. really nice. smells like Galaxy.

Taste: ripe mango maybe a little citrus grapefruit peel that goes to ptih and hits the bitter hop note.

Mouth: perfectly balanced creamy silky mouthfeel. no EtOH note at all at 7.1% very sessionable

Over: Awesome Awesome NE style IPA. Would definitely trade for again. First stand alone Monkish I've had and it's really tasty and well executed. Solid brew.

My first from Monkish, canned January 12 and poured into my Spieglau IPA glass. I cannot understand why this beer is apparently rated a little low but agree that there aren't many reviews out yet...Hazy, gorgeous color and mouthfeel, exceptioanl lacing. I couldn't ask for a better offering in this style.
