Sweet orange/tangerine citrus, tropical hoppy, and tropical dank nose on this one! Taste follows with a hoppy and orange/grapefruit citrus bitter swallow...some dry, earthy/grassy notes show up at the end of the swallow. This has decent depth and mouthfeel...the dry earthiness interferes a bit.

Bottle Date: growler 4/7/19
Palate Contaminants: none

The look is thick. Not a lot of carbonation, but what's there is fine. Very light orange color.

The nose is both sweet and astringent. The main fruit scent is peach, with white grapefruit taking the silver. There's also a good amount of freshly cut grass. What really pushes this one up the ranks though is the intensity. Finally, one that doesn't fade and stays strong.

There's more bitterness in the taste than the smell, but plenty of sweetness is still present. The sweetness that had been connected to the fruits is much less so, and it hits me as more connected to some tropical fruit like guava. The grass is still there, but transitioning from common lawn to lemongrass. That goes along with more vegetation like arugula. It's a bit... varied in covering the flavor spectrum, but the intensity makes whatever I decide to focus on in the moment pretty delicious.

Weight is medium-heavy for the type. Carbonation is somewhat prickly, yet medium-fine. Aftertaste retains some of the bitterness, and the flavor is mostly vegetation.

Hazy amber peachy color with a thick head with decent retention.
Aroma with notes of fresh pine, lots of stone fruits, some mango, a bit of passion fruit, lemongrass, pineapple and bread.
Flavor with notes of piney resin, pineapple, stone fruit, earth, ginger, lemon, grapefruit, melon and bread. Dry and bitter aftertaste. Positively, it is more hop pronounced than its Juicy counterparties
Bordering full smooth body. Alcohol of 8.4% is absent.

My first Monkish experience, underwhelmed to say the least. A solid NEIPA with a great mouthfeel, but both the smell and taste are like every other muted fruity ipa.

Canned 8/29/18. Been holding onto cans of these for a while to see how they have aged.
L: Pours hazy golden yellow in color. About a finger of a bubbly white head which dissipated quickly. Minimal lacing.
S: So much fruit on the nose. A lot of tangerine, orange, pineapple and mango with a little bit of melon. Slight hop presence on the nose.
T: That hop bitterness is there initially, but then it slowly fades into this juicy cascade. Very very enjoyable. Flavors are lemon, orange, mango, pineapple, and peach. There is a bitterness to this beer, which I am actually enjoying. Hoppy bitter initially, and lingering fruit sweetness on the finish. Can't detect the 8.4 abv on this one.
F: Full in body and with a nice heft. Carbonation is moderate for the style. Not as pillowy as other NEIPAs, but it has a great feel.
O: Very enjoyable. It was great on tap and stellar from the can with a tad bit of age. The age took off that harsh finish that it seemed to have when I had it fresh on tap. Monkish knows what they're doing as far as NEIPAs go. I am very grateful to have tried. Cheers!

Golden-yellow, hazy, milky colour. Medium foamy head.
Fruity and hoppy smell.
The tasting starts with a very intense hoppy flavour, becoming sweet in short time, like a honey aftertaste. Elderflowers, lime, exotic fruits (guava, passion fruit), apricots and dried fruits. Reduced bitterness, just enough to underline the herbal notes and the hops.
Full bodied, offering a complete tasting sensation, filling your mouth.
An excellent American double IPA!

Pours out very hazed, bright white head. Aromas of tamgerine orange, grapefruit pith, lemon and some sweetness. Palate is much the same - getting grapefruit, orange, and peach up front, some lemon and bready malts throughout and a hit of green on the fishish. Mouthfeel is soft and overall this is super smooth and tasty!
