LAX 2 JFK Triple IPA was made in collaboration with Other Half. We took our first TIPA collab, JFK 2 LAX, and boosted the mouthfeel and body and also flipped the hop bill to now be Simcoe, Motueka, and Citra.

Yeah, this can is old as it had a date of 2/13/18 stamped on the bottom of it with "LAX" written under it. Loved how Monkish and Other Half both did versions of this beer with the airport codes as part of the name but the brew on the inside was just as wonderful as well. This held up well over time as it was tasty, full-bodied, and balanced all at once!
This had a good pour to it as the liquid was a deep orange with a light head topping it off. The lacing wasn't terribly thick but a few rings could be discerned among the suds with the bubbles being thicker in the middle of my pint glass. Bright citrus, oats, wheat, and cream could be discerned in the nose as this was quite lively from the first sniff. Cereal, sherbet, deep tropical fruit, and an underlying dankness emerged as I gave this a sip as this beer was wonderfully balanced, full-flavored, and bright without being overly heavy or tired as the carbonation was light but present enough to keep things lively throughout...
Yes, there was booze here and it was noticeable but it wasn't a deterrent as it enhanced the robust flavor profile of this beer, as the cracked white wheat aspect lasted throughout my session and left me wanting more once the final sip went down. It's not often I have something that's juicy, balanced, and full but this fit that bill and left me wanting more once I finished it off. So impressed with this but that wasn't a surprise given who had a hand in this collaboration!

Brewed Feb 13 2018 and enjoyed May 23 2018. Outrageously fresh, juicy, hazy, boozy. Amazing that this has held on to its flavors and body for so long. Wish I had another can.

From a 16oz can, dated 02/13/18. Served in a spiegelau-style IPA glass.
An opaquely milky glass of grapefruit juice with a scant half finger of loose, fizzy head. Retention isn't worth speaking of and leaves a thin collar and some sparse, slippery lacing.
A soft aroma of damp cereal and OJ.
Taste is thick, juicy and doughy. Like the nose, it is reminiscent of a glass of orange juice with a bowl of porridge. Not a heck of a lot of complexity, just thick and juicy as all get out and I'm not saying I don't like it, because this is just the kind of shit I live for.
Feel is smooth and juicy, hefty bodied and adequately carbonated. You can taste the 10% abv but you don't feel it going down.
Overall... may I say it? It's fucking delicious. But not like beer. You could swap this out for someone's mimosa and they might think it tasted funny but it wouldn't occur to them that it wasn't actually a mimosa.

Poured from a 16 ounce can dated 2/13/18.
Pours an opaque pineapple juice color with a slight white head. Has a boozy, citrus smell. The booze doesn't overpower, but it's definitely present. Taste also is citrus with a little bit of booze at the end. It's sweet, but not too sweet. Slight bitterness as well. Medium feel, but nice and smooth. Not much of a lingering of taste. Overall a very nice beer. It has a slight boozy taste, but is still very easy to drink for a 10% beer.

LAX 2 JFK - Monkish feat. Other Half
TIPA - 10% abv
Canned 2/13/18 (26 days ago)
L - 1-finger bright white head bubbles down to a thin topcoat in under a minute. Body is deep orange with some brownish tones. A little off from OJ, but close.
S - strong tropical citrus. Pineapple, melon, grapefruit. A little sweetness and booziness too.
T - follows the nose. The 10% is impressively well hidden by the barage of acidic citrus. Minimal bitterness. Some sweetness in the background, but it doesn’t distract from the intense hop goodness.
F - medium-full body with medium carb.
O - If I tried this blind I would have probably guessed Other Half. It’s very similar to their best DIPAs/TIPAs, and I mean that in the best possible way. I really dig this one a lot.
