On draft at Monkish.
Nice black pour, with a one finger head of dark tan foam. As it fizzes away it leaves a nice heavy yet thin lace around the glass.
Lots of dark fruits right away on the nose. The rich aroma compliments notes of booze, molasses, and chocolate. Not much coffee, but there’s a pleasant roasty finish.
Much more coffee in flavors, it hits hard right away. Roasty, bitter. Sweet chocolate and dark fruits follow, complimenting what was so prevalent on the nose. In the finish there’s a slight boozy burn with Bourbon flavors in the finish. I wish they would bottle this, because based on the current profile it would age really well. Not so much in a growler (for those who got a full 750mL fill).
Great medium-full body , sticky and viscous. Smooth with a nice warmth. Everything you’d expect and want from a solid BA Imperial stout.
I wasn’t too sure what to expect from a BA beer from Monkish, but it turns out that Hazys and Belgian styles aren’t all they do well. This is a great stout, and worth a try for anyone able to get their hands on it.

Sweet hell this one is on another level. Darker than all get out, even this one has John Milton questioning himself. Just deep, just rich, just everything... Makes me so dumb I am at a loss for words. Get it.
