Thanks to Chewie for the can. Cheers mang! Wow, Monkish, Tired Hands, and Omnipollo!? This should be good...
I still don't know how to rate these murk bombs on appearance. The uglier the better? If so, this one wins. It looks like liquid yeast in a glass. Opaque yellow with muddled brownish highlights and a smooth, creamy white head that froths and burms and coats everything.
"Cotton candy space cookie piña colada double milkshake IPA." I can definitely smell the cotton candy in pure confectioners sugar form. Piña colada? If mild traces of mango infused with latex rubber equals piña colada, then yes, that's what it smells like.
No question that this thing is on a candy level of sweetness, but once again, its advertised descriptors don't align. There is an indiscribable blend of tropical fruits, but the "cotton candy space cookie" tastes like an intense regular old sugar cookie on steroids to me. Definitely getting more of that latex flavor, but it seems to fade as it warms. That, or the alcoholic aftertaste just burned everything else away.
As far as the feel goes, for the style it is pretty good. Creamy, thick, and smooth (jeebus...what am I talking about here?). Obviously per my review above this is heavily on the sweet side and has a good heaping helping of alcohol warmth on the finish.
It may seem like I'm hating on this, because I am. I've had delicious offerings from all three of these incredible and reputable breweries. To me, this one is no where near the level of quality that comes out of any of their doors. To see all three names on this product is a bit of a let down. Cheers.
