Wild ale aged in oak puncheons for 12 months. Brewed in collaboration with smart friends Half Acre Beer Co. Inspired by our fishing trip in Alaska and fish-themed American pale ales, we brewed a pale ale and fermented with both of our house mixed cultures and then aged in French oak puncheons for almost 365 days. Bottle conditioned in 750mL corked & caged bottles. Tart, oaky, lemon-fruity, dry, soft happiness.

I have only had monkish beers a few times and I’d previously never been disappointed, but holy cow was this thing the mother of all infected bottles. I popped the cork and it absolutely exploded all over my kitchen counter, cabinets, and floor and by the time the dust had settled only 1/5 of the bottle remained and it tasted like a train wreck.

I hate to give these guys a bad review, but this was the worst infected bottle I’ve ever dealt with, it was like a bomb went off when I opened the thing.

750ml Bottle purchased @Monkish

Appearance: Clear straw-yellow color with a medium sized white head that subsides to a thin white cap. A nice looking beer.

Smell: Mild musty barn notes and grassy hay notes. Nice looking American Wild Ale.

Taste:Tart grapefruit notes, grassy/hay notes, and mild tannic oak notes are present in the taste profile. The beer finishes dry with a hint of tart fruit notes and hay notes on the back end.

Mouth-feel: Light bodied with a medium level of carbonation.

Overall: A nice Wild ale. The flavors that are typical of this style are somewhat mild but the beer has a nice taste profile.
