32 oz crowler into snifter
A: dark chocolate color, borderline black. Half a finger of thick, tan head.
S: Bourbon immediately, giving way to vanilla, leather, cocoa and maple.
T: A delicate dark fruit note emerges first, mostly plum. A light sweetness follows, consistent with the presence of lactose sugar. Finish is bourbon booze.
M: for the style the body is thin. The nose flirts to indicate a big full beer, but the taste is not consistent with that suggestion and thus the body falls short. Carbonation is appropriate but this beer is a little hotter than the ABV would usually suggest.
O: Unique to have a barrel aged milk stout and a nice effort. By no means a bad beer but the taste and body leave some room for improvement.
