We aged our English Barleywine 'Otter Space' in Buffalo Trace bourbon barrels for 7 months and then hand-bottled. This 11.5% sipper shows bourbon top notes, rich sweet malt with lingering dark fruit, and balanced by the oaky finish.

After having a couple of glasses of the regular Otter Space, Alewife and I each had a 375ml bottle of this, for $10.00.
Poured from the bottle into a small sniftah. It was a very dark mahogany/chestnut, nearly opaque, with some garnet highlights. A creamy, frothy, 1/4" beige head sat on top, with a slow ebb revealing nice lacing. Nose had malty caramel and toffee - being quite English! Then add in some bourbon notes... Mmmm! It had a medium-plus body, and was quite smooth.
Flavor? More malt and then bourbon! Toffee, caramel, brown bread, some raisins and dates.... though a smidge less sweet than the original. In addition to a slightly earthy, herbal finish, there was the bourbon and some vanilla. A very tasty brew!! Cheers!!
