Had this as the 5th beer in a 6 beer flight in May 2014 at the source in Kalamazoo.
Pours red 1/3" off white head. Is pretty. Not as hoppy as the chalkboard described it, (commercial chalkboard tug job?) notes of peach were nowhere to be found. More of a C hop vibe. Bitter, trees and stuff.
Taste, eh, this didn't stand out as much as their roundhouse beer did. Was a lighter hop effect, but the lack of honey kept the rye and earthier malt profile just kicking all over the place, sticky, hefty, caramel everywhere and not a drop to drink. Bitterness in the 50ibu range. Flavor profile pushed along by the maltiness moreso than the use of hops.
Aside from the rye, this came off like your dad's homebrew red ale. Just nothing to speak of, probably more disappointing because I had another red before it that I actually really liked, pushed good hop notes, this doesn't.
