Limited edition Bell's
Pours a deep dark brown/red that actually appears black. Forms a relatively lage tan colored head for a cask beer.
Aroma of coffee, chocolate, caramel and dark fruits coupled with powerful citrus and pine hop aromas.
Flavor is bitter coffee and deep chocolate notes of a stout and or porter combined with the rich fruity dark sweet malts of a barleywine and finished off with a powerfully bitter citric and pine hop note. Think Expedition Stout combined with Bell's Porter and cut with a rich malty and highly astringent hop profile.
Mouthfeel is burnt, sweet and roasted up front then shifts to rich syrupy note that is quickly run over by the strongly bittered, alcoholic, lightly spiced and warming finish.
Drinkability is very high. High ABV is hidden behind the bounty of flavors but is felt after the fact. Another small batch winner from Bell's.
