amazing beer, super dark with a hint of fuel to it. heavy duty, not for the faint of heart. goes well with bells bacon pops. i got this beer in a sampler. high gravity craft beer is excellent.

On tap at Bells 8 oz served in a snifter. Note to other reviewers, 5 oz servings at Bells are served in sampler glasses not snifters.
A: nice Amber color with a slight caramel colored head that quickly vanished. Lacing was extremely sticky head was minimal as the glass was literally filled to the lip.
S: the malt backbone way overpowered this version. Booze was clearly evident but al,out no hops on the nose, less so than the other version
T: the hops in this version were completely buried, no citrus, very slight grapefruit aftertaste but even that did not linger.
M: full bodied and sweet. The regular Stupid Quadrupid was better with much more hop presence. Again, not sure this should be considered a DIPA. Either a strong ale or strong American Barleywine. At 15% any more than an 8oz pour could be dangerous, it goes down pretty easily.

5 oz. pour from tap at the Cafe, into a snifter.

A - Deep, near-opaque, near-ruby, light off-white head.

S - Deep citrus tones, dried fruit, and a bit of booze.

T - Starts off with an explosion of citrus. Sweet orange, passion fruit, mango, pineapple, and a bit of apricot. The gigantic malt backbone gives a sweet impression to the fruity tones, which, along with the dark fruit esters that take form later in the palate, make this one tropical mother of a beer. Perceived bitterness is low, just enough to make this perfectly balanced. Subtle esters and caramelly malt tones become a bit more apparent throughout the palate, until a boozy finish washes over out of nowhere. Residual taste is a tad bitter, and real boozy.

M - Wonderfully full-bodied without being chewy or syrupy, and sweet without being cloying.

O - Not at all what I was expecting. I had no idea something like this could come together so well.
