Poured into a Trillium glass a very nice clean/clear dark golden copper color, pretty nice carbonation, with a pretty nice one-finger thick/creamy off-white head, which also leaves a very nice small island, with some pretty nice sticky lacing behind. The nose is hoppy, malty, with a pretty nice citrus complex (orange, tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple, mango), some sweetness, piney. The taste is pretty nice, hoppy, malty, with a pretty nice citrus complex (orange, tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple, mango), nice little touch of sweetness, very nice pine note. Medium Body, ABV hidden very well, pretty drinkable for a brew this high in ABV, kinda chewy, with a nice dry/bitter finish. Overall, a pretty tasty brew. Big Beer for sure.

Strong dipa from bells. A little resiny and ok eh with a smooth finish. Reminds me of some classic DIPAs

 

Lightly hazed, bright golden/orange hue, slim white head.

In the nose: Big citrus note plume out of the glass, accompanied by tropical tones, too. Initial notes of orange and grapefruit are swallowed up by pineapple, passionfruit, various berries, and maybe a little melon.

In the mouth: Juicy stuff, from the start. Great big buzz of bitterness. Booze comes on board. Citrusy, dank, resinous, deep, and yet refreshing. Candied fruit, dried apricots, pineapple and orange slices. Hop flavors hang on in the back of the palate, and stay, keeping that finish lasting long. A tasty treat that can't be beat. I may need to go get some more.

Drank this way beyond the 3 month shelf life going in after 6 month its still a pretty quaff-able ale very earthy and malty with a bit of ABV shining through in the finish but not as undrinkable as I expected. Like a semi aged hop slam but less sweetness to soften the bitterness.

It's not a bad ale just not one I would seek out again kind of like the oracle which to me was also pretty forgettable.

Don't drink it now it does seem beyond it's prime!

 

Laurel:
LOOK: Pours a very clean, light pale amber with a full 3-4 finger head that does well in retention and leaves high amounts of lace.
AROMA: Pine nuts, bread malts, citrus with some peach and apricot along with some caramel.
TASTE: Sweet up from, with tropical fruits, honey, caramel bread malts.
Drying with a lightly bitter finish. Very tasty.

12 oz. bottle. Pours clear deep golden with a big white head and lots of lacing. Classic. Smells of sweet tropical fruit hops, pine resin, and caramel malt. Tastes of sweet pineapple up front, cut by a nice pine flavor, with a lot of caramel malt behind it. Moderate pine bitterness. Medium heavy. This is an IPA from another era and it's a nice flashback. It's sweet, but not the enrelenting sugar of its modern peers.

Well, this is a 12 oz bottle, bottled November 9th, 2020, poured into my medium sized Calusa snifter.

This is a transparent gold color with a little chill haze and a creamy cap of 2 fingers. I hate the appearance category. It's so boring. Anyways it leaves pretty heavy lace up the sides, fuggit, onto the aroma.

Aroma brings candied orange peel and some lemon zest. Lots of malty sweetness to be had too. Kinda like those carameled orange rolls. Peaches. Cream. Mango. A little bit of sweet grapefruit.

Flavor brings really bright pine and really bright and sweet oranges. Some cantaloupe action too. I can't emphasize enough how sweet this is for Bell's (also without being cloying, very important). Peaches and cream. Mango. Mint. Gin. Pretty interesting.

Feel is very resinous with a bright and crisp carbonation, medium body, moderate cling, moderate heat, resiny finish.

Overall, a solid IPA, pretty sweet for Bell's, has a soft touch, and doesn't quite have the intense flavor of what I'd like to see in a double IPA. I'd almost say Two Hearted has more of an intensity to it. Still pretty decent though, give a single a whirl unless you are really into old school IPAs with a sweet twist. It's not my kind of IPA but I can't hate it. It's a good beer. At the end of the day that's really all that matters.

 

Bottled 11/09/2020. Poured a slightly hazy orange/straw color with whitish cream head into pint glass; this was followed by nice head retention and fine lacing. Pleasant hoppy aroma with hints of earthy maltiness. Taste is hop forward but with a somewhat muted finish. Mouth is medium to full bodied with malts evident. Packs a punch @ 9% ABV but does not give it away as it's easy to suck down more than a few and not realize it. Am partial to the IPA's that are able to balance the malts and hops and are not just bitter. This is a great example.

 

 

 

 

Bottled 11/09/2020 pours very slightly amber ale with a thin head. Aroma is hoppy and a little bit malty. Taste is hop forward and malt is present. The mouthfeel is thick, lays on the tongue but has a good after taste. Overall a fair DIPA that I was glad to try.
