Poured from 12-ounce bottle into a tulip glass. Clear amber in color, with a thick, foamy white head that left a curtain of lacing as it settled. This sample was past the recommended shelf life, so a grain of salt is in order. Juicy, with notes of tropical fruit and citrus. There is also a pleasant floral overtone that pops through on the nose and palate. Mouthfeel is almost creamy. Low bitterness, clean finish. Despite the hop fall-off, this is delicious and very drinkable.

Not what I had hoped for, but out of date. After once again unknowingly purchasing at Total Wine, I purchased beer over 2 months past shelf life. Some distributors don’t care about shelf life, but IPA drinkers do, and this has caused many never to buy again from that brewery. Bells could make the shelf life easier to find. Disappointed!

Poured a cloudy, yellow-gold body with large head and lace ring down glass. Aroma is mostly tropical fruits although there is a mild floral note but no bitterness. Smooth, clean, fuller-bodied beer that is real easy to drink, with a mild maltiness underneath a tropical fruit sweetness that leads to a sweeter than dry finish.

12oz bottle btlg date 4/12/21 into a Spiegelau IPA glass.
L: Pours a lightly hazed gold with a tall, pillowy eggshell white head with excellent retention. Lots of spotty lacing and medium low carbonation.
S: Mango, grapefruit, orange, spicy hops, light bread and light pine.
T: Sweet caramel, earthy hops, mango, peach and light bread malt notes ebb with each drink. There is light pineapple, lemon rind and a trace of alcohol at the finish.
F: Clean, crisp, smooth, medium-heavy mouthfeel and is gently creamy with a soft and accommodating med-long finish.
O: Overall the taste of this beer is rich and large. It is sweet and pleasant in every way and is excellent in it's style.

Pours a slightly hazy gold. Citrus hop aroma. Big foam. Milder than I thought it would be. More hop forward than most NEIPA. Big bitterness fades to a malt finish. A little syrupy. Not much tropical fruit. Good but different.

I'll take an IPA from Bell's any time, and a double IPA doubly so. But--sigh--it's got to be one of the hazies, huh? Okay, whatever...better be good!

The look: all fuzzed up, bright golden coloring, big white head, slowly shifting downward.

In the nose: Sweetness abounds, tropical notes on top, citrus at the side. Pineapple and passionfruit looming over orange and lemon.

In the mouth: Starting out big and juicy, then comes a nice slice of bitterness. Hops are hard at work here. Juicy malt holds down the fort. Big, buzzing hop presence. More tropical tones, fruity/juicy flavors on the palate end on a dry note. Soft, smooth, hoppy, and just bitter enough, with the alcohol growing in appropriate amounts.

This one has really got it going on. Avoids the trap of being all about the haze that's all the craze and instead delivers on flavor. Unless you're the type that likes drinking pillows...if that's you're thing.

Once again, I enjoyed three cans, and reviewed the fourth. Enjoyed them all equally. Might have to go back for me. This one's a winner.

While I am a big IPA drinker, I am not the biggest fan of New England style. All I can say is Wow!
This is closer to a regular IPA than overboard New England.
Pours beautifully from a 12 ounce bottle. A rich deep dark Golden color (not clear but closer to clear than hazy). A nice head from a smooth pour. Excellent lacing. An excellent look and smell beer.
I find the taste phenomenal, with the fruit way toned down, but still pleasantly evident but not overpowering.
If you want an double IPA that is not too bitter and hoppy, but not overly fruity either, this is your beer. Can sit here and drink a couple or more. Such a smooth IPA with a well hidden 8.5ABV. Well done Bells. I wish you were located by me.
