On tap at the Eccentric Cafe on 7/21/12

A) Clear, rusty copper with a wooden sheen. Not much head at all; only a tight ring and a few scratches across the top.

S) The aroma is odd: bourbon sweetness without any actually bourbon aromas. Damp oak, watery barrel char, floral hops, corn, steamed veggies and a hint of apple.

T) Ooh, this tastes bad. Aspartame sweetness grates against charred oak and timid whiskey. The barreling is a terrible as the watery, candy caramel and stale earthy hop base beer. The finish is a nasty amalgamation of it all.

M) Very thin body with far too ample carbonation. The feel is the nail in the coffin.

D) I should have know that barreling this piss poor base beer would only make a bigger mess.

Got a 12oz pour of this for $3.50 at the Eccentric Cafe at Bell's.
Really excited to come across this rare beer during my travels.

A: pours a cloudy brown with a nice bright white head. Lacing is good. Not even close to the Amber.

S: you get a decent amount of bourbon, oak, and carmel. Pretty obvious it's been in a bourbon barrel. There is a slight fruit aroma when swirled.

T: upfront you get the bourbon, oak, vanilla, and biscuit. Pretty bold for a 6.5% beer. No detection of heat.

M: mouthfeel is nice. Good carbonation and creamy for an amber ale.

Bell's did a nice job with this one. This only improves on their flagship Amber Ale.
