From nitro-tap to tasting glass at Argilla/Pietro's on 4/14/12
*From notes
A: Chill hazy golden. A 1.5 finger dense, cascading head rests atop this lovely brew. There's a primo white collar that follows and plenty of lacing.
S: Creamed white corn. A smattering of bitter hop oil becomes a bit more prevalent as it warms. Quite pleasant.
T: A bit sweet, with plenty of creamy filling in the middle. Putting this on nitro is a genius idea, as it allows all the delicate nuances of the beer to shine. The finish is decidedly hoppy. not IPA hoppy, but there's a real bit to it that adds a desired and well deserved complexity to it all. As it warms, some golden, gently toasted grains show through.
M: Slightly oily. I'll credit that to the nitro-tap. It doesn't stick in the mouth and linger for too long. Rather it passes through and gets you set for the next sip.
O: Steve and his Argilla crew have crafted a solid, sessionable and pretty damn tasty Cream Ale. I love that they put it on nitro, and after spending some time talking to him, it sounds like they've got some pretty exciting things in their brewing future. Thumbs up. Certainly worth the price of admission.
