Overall a solid amber- almost a red ale. Paired great with their pizza, it was just bold enough to know it was a craft beer without being overbearing. Once it warmed up a little it came to life showing a much more pronounced carmel profile and sweetness.
Would be a great daily beer.

Had on tap at Brewers by the Bay
A: Pours a dark copper/amber color with a small off-white head. Moderate retention but nice lacing around the glass.
S: Some sweet caramel malt and a little bit of toasted grain. Faint citrus hops.
T: More caramel with a rather earthy flavor. There is some light citrus and a faint pine from the hops.
M: Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Slightly sweet.
O: Nothing wrong with the beer at all, just didn't really do anything for me.

From tap to tasting glass at Argilla/Pietro's on 4/14/12
*From notes
A: It looks just like a Sam Adams Boston Lager. Clean, darker amber with a one finger head. The lacing is stellar. Solid white collar follows as the head falls.
S: Not a lot going on here. A bit on the nondescript side. When I inhale deeply, I get a touch of toasted grain and a mere speck of bitter hops.
T: Mild, with a lot of bittering hops and earthy malt. The bittering lingers for some time, and with a lower ABV, I'm fairly impressed. As I take a minute away from the glass, I get some toast and pine resin lingering in my mouth.
M: A little thin, like the carbonation level just hasn't been mastered on this one yet. But it ain't bad, just not quite where I'd like it.
O: Of the three house brews I sampled while at Argilla, this was most certainly their weakest. It's pretty low key, and something that didn't keep me interested for long. Worth a tick, I suppose.
