I was in the area so stopped by to check it out. A rather small place and definitely a pizza parlor as you can smell the pizzas baking when you enter. Pizza was very good and service was excellent. They had six of their beers available and some local guest beers. I sampled five of their beers in a flight and all were drinkable but none were exceptional. I probably will stop by if I am in the area again but won't go out of my way to visit.

The vibe is like a dark, dank neighborhood bar which is misleading when the outside looks so modern. I found what beers I have tried ok. I think I was turned off by the vibe. Pizza is good.

I was very surprised by how good this place was. It is a hole-in-the-wall, kind-of-dingy pizza jawn in a strip mall, but the pizza is super tasty and the beer is well made.

I had a NEIPA-style Double IPA that was perfectly hazy and juicy, and a crazy pizza with an egg base + bacon + scrapple + maple syrup sauce that was yummy.

Definitely wortha stop and frequent visits!

Argilla Brewing Co. is a relaxed family style pizza place that also happens to have a brewery and bar. It's not much to look at in all honesty, but if the pizza and beer are good who cares? It's nice enough, and comfortable.

I'm not sure what the arrangement is, but the sign reads "Argilla Brewing Co. & Pietro's Pizza". It's good pizza, maybe not the best I've had, but I enjoy it and my kids love it. They like the Cheesesteak Pizza ($17-14"), and the Fried Pickles ($9). I should also point out that I've never been there at night, only during the day, although I don't see why kids couldn't come in - the bar is central but it's not that different from a lot of restaurants that have bars, and I wouldn't expect a rowdy crowd.

The beer is always changing, and I've enjoyed everything I've had. It's not the greatest, but like the decor, it's not bad. There are 8 beers on tap so the selection is good, and they seem to keep it evenly mixed (unlike some places that offer 8 taps with 6 of them being IPAs). There are also a handful of other Delaware beers available in bottles/cans, and wines, but I've only ever had their beer.

I'd certainly recommend it if you're in the area.

Small nano brewery in a strip mall restaurant. Nothing exceptional in the lineup, but they did manage to put up a variety of styles. Food centers on the pizza and sandwiches. Overall vibe was combo corner pub/neighborhood restaurant.

Lousy service and only 3 beers. Two of those beers were mild Belgians and the third was a blonde. Not my idea of a decent selection.

Good beer, fairly priced. The beer is nothing crazy and they have a limited selection but you should know that going into this that its a nano brewery. It's also nice that they have some other local beers on tap from Twin Lakes and Fordham/Old Dominion. The food is tasty but you have to be aware of the pizza. Since it is cooked in a stone oven, they cook it well done which can sometimes taste burnt so you have to ask for it under if you don't like the burnt taste. Really friendly staff.

Not much going on with the interior. Seems like it could have been an old pizza hut or something.

Service was fine, but there weren't really many other people there.

Food was pretty good. Got the wings and a pizza, both were really solid. I got the "stupid hot" sauce on the side and agreed that it was rather stupidly hot.

Only three beers on! One was rushed (brown), one was thin and boring (60 shilling), but the dark rye was really something else. Odd that the quality would vary so much.

An interesting brew pub. Seems like it has potential.

Located in a strip mall, Argilla is a pretty modest place, basically a pizzeria with some decent craft beer on tap. As far as atmosphere goes, it's nothing special. They're pretty new, yet it feels like a weary environment that's been around for decades.

The beer selection was okay, but somewhat scanty. There were a whole three house brews on tap, and a few non-threatening local selections from the likes of DFH and Sly Fox. The house beers were average.

Service was fine and prices were reasonable. I went at a pretty quiet time, and the bartender was pretty much on the ball. I ordered a stromboli, which was pretty good. Strangely, I ordered a small, and they gave me a large claiming they didn't have the crust to make the small. ? Okay...??? Not arguing, since I got the large for the small price, but how can a pizzeria not be able to make a small stromboli? Moving on...

Overall, I can only say, 'meh.' It was on the way to my destination, so worth checking out, but it's not a place I'd go out of my way to revisit.

Nice little spot along Kirkwood Highway. Pizza is good, and the wings are always crispy, but nothing gourmet about this place at all. Beer can be hit or miss, but has gotten markedly better over the past 3-4 months. They always have a few guest taps which is nice, but I can't say I've ever had to order from that list, which is always nice. Constantly rotating list is fun, and prices are very reasonable.

Sitting at the bar is probably your best bet, as the staff isn't always as attentive as one would hope. We come in fairly regularly, not just on weekends, and there just never seems to be enough servers. Pizza oven is out in the open, so you can watch them make when you eat. It is kind of a small place, so there can be a wait on a Friday or Saturday night. Hope they do big things.

So my Pops, wife and I decided to drop in and check out their new house suds on Saturday, April 14th 2012.

After an hour and a half drive up from DC, we were ready to get our drink on. Upon entering, there wasn't a big crowd. It's a basically a pizza shop that's brewing tiny quantities of craft beer.

The wait/bar staff was great. Nice food reco's and always arriving with a smile. They brought out the suds quickly and always asked if we wanted a refill/something else.

Not a lot of house taps on - only three. But again, they're new and just beginning to get their feet wet. All three of the house brews were good, and they also had a decent selection of guest taps as well.

The food was pretty tasty. Whoever thought that putting crab and asparagus on a white pizza must be crazy, but I'll be damned if it wasn't a solid combo.

The best part of the visit was getting to chat with Steve, the owner/brewer. He's been homebrewing for some time, and from what I gather really wanted to share his passion with his customers. He took me on a tour of their (incredibly small) brewing space, and we chatted about beer for what...15-20 minutes? Any time I can get a feel of whose creating the beer, the better I can understand their products.

Prices were more then decent. Alarmingly well priced.

All in all, we had a wonderful trip to what I hope is a place I visit again soon. Good food, solid service and a brewer just beginning to get a foot hold. Keep your eyes peeled for Argilla. Good things ahead....

I was in on opening day (3/20), so avoided the problem others had with them being out of their house beers (although when I was there, all they had was house beer because of some delays with their liquor license approval and the distributor). The place looks great - nice, large bar combined with a lot of booth and table seating. Service at the bar was good and fast, although they were having some opening day snafus figuring out the nitrogen tap. Otherwise, no major problems. The four beers on tap were all very good - I thought the amber was a very good example of the style, while the other three (rye porter, IPA, and a cream ale) were solid. They do have a sampler discount if you want to taste everything that's on tap. I thought the pizza was excellent - nice thin, crispy crusts with good quality ingredients, and pairs well with the beer. I opted to order by the slice (it looks like they have about three pies available by the slice each day, with the selection rotating). The pizza slices came out fast - this would be a good place to go to sit at the bar and have a quick lunch if you work in the area. They do have standard pub fare and some entrees as well, but as I was just in for lunch I didn't sample them - will have to try another time. Overall, a welcome addition to the Delaware beer scene, although at this point I wouldn't say it's the sort of place that is a destination in and of itself.

I walked in the door of the Argilla brewing company expecting great things. Nanobreweries have the ability to experiment in small batches and turn out some truly unique brews... This was not my experience tonight.

The brewery / Pizzaria opened on Tuesday, today is Saturday. I understand that being a nano also comes with the expectancy that all beers will not be available for an extended period, however I was not prepared for the dry environment... Listed on tap were a house Cream ale, an IPA and a Rye Stout; guest taps included Exile ESB, Dogfish Indian Brown, Dominion Maibock, and a Fordham Helles Lager. I sat down to order my first pint as I noticed that the Cream Ale was erased from their board....

When I tried to order the IPA, I was told that our server had to check on it. She came back and informed me that all that was left was the Rye Stout and Dogfish Indian Brown. I reluctantly ordered the Rye (I strongly dislike Rye beers personally, but I'm objective, if nothing else) to which the waitress responded "You ready to order your food?" I said "not yet" and she huffed and stalked away. (At this point, I'm sure that you can see where this is going.) While perusing their limited menu, not a complaint, as this is a pizzaria, I noticed other wait staff serving pints of GOLDEN colored ale... Hmmmm, that doesn't look like a stout or an Indian brown Ale, I said to my lovely wife...

Upon the waitresses return I ordered a pizza, to which she replied "Is that it?" My mind raced for an appropriate comment, none could be found... It is a pizza place, what the hell did she expect? Was I supposed to demand the Steak Au Poirve and a bottle of Dom?

Anyway, back on topic, the Rye Stout wasn't horrible, a little flat and lacking in complexity, the rye was present, but not overpowering... Overall not bad, but not my first choice to eat with pizza either.

I also asked the waitress what beer was on tap again, just to clarify, and was once again told the same extensive list...Dogfish or Rye Stout... I took the pizza to go at this point and left. After returning to my abode and pouring myself a nice pint of my own IPA, I dug into the pizza, which was average and lacking in toppings... For a $15 pizza, I expect more than 6 pieces of sausage and 2 strips of bacon scattered over a large pie...

I can get pizza anywhere, the point of going to Argilla was the beer... Unfortunately, there was none.... House or guest.

I will check back in a little bit and hit just the bar to review their beers, if any can be found... Until then, cheers!
