"Like an IPA, but black; prominent hop character with moderate amount of caramel malt character and roasted malt flavor and aroma."

Appearance - Pours a dark cola brown with a finger width of dense mocha head.

Smell - Roasted malts, citrus, citrusy hops, some sort of sweet aroma (honey?)

Taste - Starts with the roasted malts, then evens out with citrus hops bitterness and sweetness similar to citrus fruit and honey.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

Overall - An Imperial black IPA that has a good amount of roasted malts along with a good citrus hop kick. Although I find it to be leaning more heavily towards the malt side of the spectrum, it is still a respectable Cascadian with good flavours.

Pours a near opaque dark brown with minimal head formation. Smells quite malty and roasty. Chocolate, black licorice, resinous hops. Slightly herbal with plum-like esters. Smells more like a slightl hoppy imperial stout due to the substantial malt backbone. Tastes more like one, too. Full bodied with flavors of chocolate, licorice, roasted malt. Hops are piney and resinous, buried beneath the malt. Finishes bittersweet and chocolatey. As a black IPA this is a total failure, but as a stout it's quite good.
