Winter Games Select pours a black color with a large darkish tan head. Their is a offensive almost metal aroma, with some hints of licorice. The taste is light, tinish, with some black licorice and coffee notes. Barley drinkable, and the flavors just don't match well. Overall not very good.

A: Dark brown with a slight reddish tint; 1-inch, somewhat steady head and okay lacing
S: Lots and lots and lots of black licorice; some roasty chocolate malts and a touch of bready, grainy malts but mostly this is an anise bomb
T: Pretty dry and chalky up front; some cocoa power flavors but mostly black, salty licorice; I like licorice but this doesn't quite come together right--I don't mind this beer but it's pretty weird
F: Decently creamy and full bodied; a bit thin on the back end
O: This is a weird beer; I like anise and I like anise in beer but this doesn't quite work because that's all it is with nothing to really complement it

This is a very interesting stout. Starts with a little sweetness, but the Star Anise has a flavor that makes this stout its very own. I like something generally a little sweeter, but if you want a less sweet and interesting stout this could be your choice. I t drinks more like a dark Belgian ale actually.
This beer is a good winter sipper while listening to Dvorak's New World Symphony.

Black color with a rocky dark tan head of sudsy foam.
The nose smells just like cola with a just a hint of toasted malt.
A very flavorful stout with chocolate and coffee flavors followed by a bit of milk like sweetness and soft toasted malt. The finish is roast, star anise and cola. Interesting and tasty.
Close to a medium body, lower carbonation that is soft.
I like this stout quite well. Interesting twist with the star anise in there. Easily drinkable and highly enjoyable. I would have this again for sure.
