April 2014: 330 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 7.5%. Black colour, dark brown in the highlights. Moderate beige head. Lovely aroma, where dark malts and American(?) piney hops blend in perfectly. Notes of mild coffee and chocolate. The flavour is mid between sweet and dry, roasty notes of coffee and dark bitter chocolate, with distinct piney hops in the finish. Very good.

Picked this up at Rosses I Torrades in Barcelona, Spain. This is a collaboration brew that Naparbier did with Nøgne Ø. Dark brown, nearly black pour with a nice two finger creamy beige head with great retention and crazy lacing. The nose is very unique for a Black IPA. Roasty malts and resiny hops dominate with an earthy, almost cannabis-like smell I've never experienced in a beer before. The cannabis also comes through in the taste along with nice roasty dark malts, bitter dark chocolate, pine, citrusy, resiny hops, smoke, espresso, and a touch of licorice on the finish. The mouthfeel is thick and creamy with great balance and medium carbonation. Overall, this is a really unique interpretation of the style and a standout in the category. Wishing I had picked up more and tried it on tap...
