The liquid is brownish ruby in colour and is covered by a tall, beige foam. This one is made up of small bubbles, is persistent, gently marking, almost every tilt of the glass.Aroma: strong, intense, there are cereal notes, bread-like, reminiscent of burnt crust. Further earthy notes, accents of dark, dried fruit, equally intense, and a slight maltiness.Taste distinctly bitter. The bitterness, here I would be inclined to say, although alcohol is generally not felt, has an alcoholic character.Alcohol well balanced. Medium saturation, slightly effervescent in the mouth. Full body. Smooth texture. Long dry aftertaste.

750 ml corked & caged bottle, as St Feuillien Oaked Quadruple, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 11%. Deep brown colour, large beige head. Aroma of malts, dark sugar, dark dried fruits and anise, a hint of sweat. Fizzy mouthfeel. Sweet flavour, malts and dark sugar again, not very spicy, low bitterness, moderate notes of oak. Not bad, but cannot compete with the best trappists.
