Black in color with minimal light penetration. There’s a fingernail of khaki brown on top. There’s not much aroma here, but a suggestion of black licorice. I’m tasting chocolate and flaked oats. The mouth is silky and smooth.

I had this on draught at the brewery. It poured a dark cola, nearly black, with one finger of khaki-colored head and lacing. It smells of roasted malt, chocolate, and burnt coffee. The taste features oatmeal and a hint of vanilla, in addition to baker's chocolate and burnt coffee grounds. It finishes with a dry, roasty bitterness. It's medium-bodied, moderately carbonated, and its 5.9% ABV presents no impediment to drinking. Like many porters, it's a tad thin in body. Overall, its tasty and a good representative of its style but it isn't comparable to its famous competition such as Founders Porter, Victory at Sea, Edmund Fitzgerald et als.

On tap in SC.
Pours with a dark brown body that's opaque in the glass. Very good head.
Light malty aroma. Clean malty flavor with a well chosen mix of grains. Exceptionally smooth body. Medium carbonation.

Quick Take: With a near-black ruby color, it boasts a very robust coffee roast that gets more roastier with time. Although balanced, it does get a little too dry in the flavor.

Hophead but I enjoyed this beer. From tap at DeMarcos in Fort Mill. Very flavorful but not as heavy and robust as some porters. Dark almost black look with a brownish tint lacing, but foam did not last. Nice smoky aroma especially while inhaling during a sip. A hint of cherry with the smoky flavor, tastes nice on the mouth but doesn't linger very long. A tad sweet. Overall enjoyable no complaints.
