Carolina Brewery commemorates it's 23rd anniversary with this tasty beer celebrating the unique flavor of Chapel Hill Toffee and the smooth silky character of a Stout. This full-bodied beer is loaded with chocolate, sweet caramel and subtle nutty flavors. These delectable attributes are derived from a select blend of roasted malt, chocolate malt, Belgian caramel malt and pure cacao. Smooth-tasting English Fuggle hops round out the flavor and balance this malty brew.

Pours black with a dark tan head, the nose is filled with dark chocolate and toffee aromas.
The toffee is forward on the taste, closely followed by dark chocolate and toffee flavors, as well as some dark fruit. Very nice. The mouthfeel is a bit thin for the style, but this is still a really nice stout.

16 oz nonic $6.
Black and opaque at first glance but clear with dark garnet highlights up to the light. Tall, rocky tan head faded slowly but lasted all the way down and left lace. At first there was a slightly metallic aroma but it faded as the beer warmed to leave a moderate roastiness like dark chocolate and a little floral hops. Well-balanced flavour just on the bitter side but with a touch of sweetness joining later. Hop flavour matches the aroma, subtle and floral. The malt is like roasted coffee and chocolate. The finish is fairly long, dry and bitter. Medium body, perhaps could use a little more, and medium carbonation which compliments the dryness. Great looking and tasting beer, shame about the initial aroma, but finishes beautifully.

Carolina Toffee Stout- Our son got it for me. A 12oz. can. It is a collaboration with Chapel Hill Toffee. Has chocolate and caramel malts is 6% and IBU of 35, sweet caramel, chocolate and nutty flavors. Very dark, little froth or head, not too thick a beer, smells malty and is QUITE tasty overall. Sweet, but not sicky sweet and tasty. True to the description of the beer. savored it!
